Reside in one of the best locations in Berlin

Enjoy city lights and idyllic comforts.

If you would like to appreciate the busy metropolis, without concomitant hectic or stress, you cannot do better than to stay with us. The Academy's mansion house, built in the 1920s by the architects Hugo and Otto Schellenberg, is located in the beautiful suburb of Grunewald - one of the most desirable parts of Berlin. In this area, around the turn of the 19th century, a residential area with elegant family homes came into being, and right up to the present day this area uniquely combines the advantages of close proximity to a busy and thriving city centre, together with a tranquil home in a green suburb.

Thus, for example, you can take the bus and in a very few minutes you will be riding along Kurfürstendamm (Ku'damm), the wide and inviting boulevard for strolling in the centre of the western part of Berlin. The eastern city centre, located between Brandenburg Gate and Alexanderplatz (Alexander Square) can be reached with no difficulties by taking the light rail (S-Bahn) and travelling a mere 20 minutes, the same transport also takes you to Potsdam and the palace of Sanssouci, located just beyond the city boundaries. This town and residences were built in the 18th and 19th centuries by the German monarchs of the Hohenzollern dynasty as court locations and sites of architectural and cultural expression, which in our times have been recognised as UNESCO world heritage sites.

The 33 double and single rooms in the Academy have all been modernised. Every room has an en-suite bathroom with shower and WC. From every one of the light and cheerful rooms you can look out over the extensive and well-kept gardens or the neighbouring mansions.

The quiet location of the Academy within the Grunewald residential suburb of Berlin means that guests can relax here and switch off from big city pressures. However, the fact that all rooms have up-to-date telephone and Internet access (using your own laptop) means that you can be reached at any time of the day or night.

Rest and recovery in Grunewald - as the name of the district might suggest, the Grune Wald (Green wood) with its many small lakes, is a mere stone's throw away. At all times, summer or winter, this magnificent wooded area, the largest in Berlin, offers opportunity for long walks, made particularly attractive because of the many small lakes and water courses.

Whether you want to swim or go ice-skating, to ramble or to jog - the Grunewald lake area provides the right sort of relaxation in any season or for every taste. It is also possible to explore the woods on horseback - there is a riding stables with a wide variety of choice for novice or experienced riders located only 5 minutes' walk from the Academy.

Due to its ideal location, there are various other sporting facilities nearby: tennis, squash and badminton courts, outdoor and indoor swimming pools or fitness studios can be reached in no time at all.

All the facilities in the Academy can be used for special occasions or events. We would be only too pleased to give you advice and assistance in organising your special event or celebration.
